There are two kinds of deductible in the Netherlands, the compulsory deductible and the voluntary deductible.
The compulsory deductible for 2019 is €385 and it is determined by the government.
On top of the compulsory deductible, you can also opt to have a voluntary deductible. If you have the Zorg-op-maatpolis or Zorgkeuzepolis, you can choose a €485, €585, €685, €785, or €885 voluntary deductible. The higher the voluntary deductible you choose, the lower your premium will be.
If yours is the Zorgbewustpolis, you can only choose a voluntary deductible of €885.
