The deductible explained

The deductible is the amount you have to pay yourself before you start receiving reimbursement for healthcare. You will have to pay the deductible if you are over 18 years of age and need healthcare covered by the general insurance policy.

There are two kinds of deductible in the Netherlands, the compulsory deductible and the voluntary deductible.

The compulsory deductible for 2019 is €385 and it is determined by the government.
